The Laboratory of Marine Diagnostics and Biotechnology studies ecosystem stress responses and sustainable aquaculture through biodiversity, microbiome, and disease ecology research. We develop eDNA diagnostics for aquaculture pathogens, conduct mesocosm experiments with salmon, shellfish, and seaweed, and operate microalgae photobioreactors and SalmoSim gut simulations. Services include pathogen detection, plankton monitoring, nutrient analysis, microbiome studies, bioproduct development, ecological modelling, and aquaculture optimisation to support resilient coastal ecosystems for industry and research.
