Nordical brings a new kind of Fish & Chips to London
Icelandic food brand turns one of Britain’s favourite meals into a new snacking format – built around seafood, natural protein and a back-to-basics approach to food.

LONDON, September 2026 – Icelandic food brand Nordical is bringing a different take on Fish & Chips to London this September, introducing trade buyers to a crunchy snack that combines potato chips with their uniquely dried Icelandic fish-chip made purely from fish.
Nordical will showcase the range at the Natural & Organic Food Show looking to connect with retailers, distributors, wholesalers, hospitality operators and foodservice partners.

From mountain trails in Iceland to a new kind of snack
The idea behind Nordical grew out of founder Runar Omarsson’s ten years guiding mountain-bike trips through Iceland. Long days riding across Icelandic terrain made one thing increasingly clear: when people needed something substantial between meals, another conventional protein or energy bar was not always what they wanted. They wanted real food.
“After hours on a bike, I found myself wanting something simple and satisfying – real food rather than another bar,” says Omarsson. “Something like fish and potatoes just made sense. It gave you that feeling of having actually eaten – the kind of food that leaves both body and mind feeling better prepared for what comes next.”
That experience became part of a bigger idea for Nordical: could Icelandic seafood – naturally rich in high-quality protein and deeply rooted in the country’s food culture – be presented in completely new consumer formats?

Nordical is focused on developing healthy and interesting consumer products around a resource Iceland knows exceptionally well: seafood. The company sees an opportunity to take fish beyond the traditional meal occasion and into new eating occasions, creating convenient products that combine natural protein with familiar foods and flavours.
Nordical Fish & Chips is one expression of that idea. The range combines potato chips with crunchy pieces of dried Icelandic fish, turning the familiar idea of Fish & Chips into an entirely different snacking experience.
“Fish is an incredible natural source of protein, yet when we think about convenient protein snacks, seafood is rarely part of the conversation,” says Omarsson. “We want to explore that opportunity. Not by overcomplicating food, but almost by doing the opposite – going back to basics and putting real food into new formats.”

Bringing Fish & Chips to Britain is deliberately playful. Rather than asking consumers to learn an unfamiliar food idea, Nordical starts with something instantly recognisable and changes the occasion and format in which it can be enjoyed.
The current range includes Salt & Pepper, Salt & Vinegar, Bacalao and Sweet Chili varieties. Buyers visiting the Natural & Organic Food Show will be able to taste the products and meet the founder to discuss retail, wholesale, distribution, hospitality and partnership opportunities.
